Suffern, NY – Women's Volleyball continued their strong start to the season on Tuesday as they bested the defending Mid-Hudson Conference Champions, Rockland Community College 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-12, 25-17). The win broke a 5-match losing streak to the Hawks dating back to 2018, when Westchester last won the MHC Championship versus their conference rival.
AngelaRosa Garofalo (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac HS) starred for the Vikings with a well-rounded effort as she put up 3 service aces with no missed serves and 8 digs to go with 3 kills.
Gabriella Cresti Caetano (Yonkers, NY/Yonkers HS) anchored the defense with 3 blocks to go with 7 kills.
Ireana Olivo (Yonkers, NY/Maria Regina HS) made nice adjustments to both Rockland's offensive attack and defense as she chipped in with 10 assists, 14 digs and 5 kills.
Mikaelyn Hannon (Yonkers NY/Peekskill HS) led the team with 17 attacks and 6 services aces to contribute 14 points overall.
With the win, the Vikings move to 2-0 on the season. They return to action on Tuesday, September 20
th as they host Orange Community College in their home opener in the Viking Gymnasium. First serve will be at 7pm!
