Valhalla, NY - After winning their last 2 games the Westchester Lady Vikings headed across the Tappan Zee into Rockland County for their second conference match of the season. This would be against the Hawks of Rockland Community College. RCC got their team back in the second half so this would be their second game of the season.
The game was dominated by WCC from beginning to end, mostly through stellar defense and lights out shooting from three. They gave up less than 10 points in each of the 4 quarters and canned 13 triples. Freshman Saniya Bell(Ossining, NY/Ossining High School) led the way with 33 points and 7 threes. Her fellow freshman Tiandra Martin(Jamaica/ Mount Vernon High School) had another great game as she piled on 17 and 5 assists.
Also important to mention Sophomore Angelica Rios(Ossining, NY/ Ossining High School) had 12 points and 11 rebounds. This was her 3 straight double double and 7th on the season. Freshman Mariah Mills(New City, NY/North Rockland High School) dished out 10 assists and her second double digit assist game of the season. Also this was Bell's second 30 point performance of the season and Martin scored in double figures in 10 out of the last 11 games.
The Lady Vikings will be back at home this Thursday in another conference match up. They will face Orange County Community College. This will be the second game of the season between these two. Westchester won the first game 62-41. With a win the WCC can secure a regular season conference championship for the first time since 2013, and the first one since they moved to Division 2. The game will be at 5:00 PM in Viking Gymnasium. It will be a double header with the men as they play at 7. COME OUT AND SUPPORT!!!
