Valhalla, NY - Westchester Community College delivered a composed and championship-level performance, capturing first place as a team behind a balanced and resilient effort across the lineup.
Leading the way for the Vikings were Stephen Alvarez(Brookfield, CT/Danbury High School) and Brendan Smith(Holmes, NY/Pelham High School), who each carded team-low rounds of 85. Alvarez set the tone early with a sharp 41 on the front nine, while Smith showcased consistency throughout his round, posting a steady 42-43 split to anchor the Westchester scorecard.
Close behind, Kellan Higgins(Yonkers,NY/Archbishop Stepinac High School and Tyler Bradshaw(New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle High School) each turned in strong rounds of 87. Higgins bounced back impressively after a challenging front nine, firing a 41 on the back—one of the best closing stretches of the day for Westchester. Bradshaw was equally steady, stringing together a 44-43 performance that kept the Vikings firmly in control.
Rounding out the scoring, Emily Hernandez(Hartsdale,NY/Saunders High School) added a 90, highlighted by a solid 43 on the back nine, while Jack Canalin(Baldwinsville, NY/Encinal High School) contributed a 91 with a consistent effort across both sides. Anthony Curtis(Hartsdale, NY/Rim of the World High School) showed resilience as well, shaving 13 strokes off his front-nine score to finish with a 95, including a strong 41 on the back.
Altogether, Westchester posted a team total of 344, securing first place and continuing to build momentum with a complete team performance. With multiple players finishing strong on the back nine and a tightly packed scoring group, the Vikings proved once again they have the depth and determination to compete at the top.
