VIKINGS COLLABORATIVE ACADEMIC SUPPORT ENVIRONMENT (V-CASE):
Established during the Fall 2017 semester, the Vikings Collaborative Academic Support Environment (V-CASE) program is the academic support mechanism of the Westchester Community College Athletic Department.
Â
The goal of V-CASE is to foster and develop an academic support environment to promote achievement among Westchester Community College student-athletes. The method to provide this environment is as follows:
Â
1 – Regular face-to-face meetings between the Athletic Department V-CASE Coordinator and Westchester Community College Student-Athletes.
Â
2 – Monthly progress reports sent on behalf of every Westchester Community College student-athlete to all faculty.
Â
3 – On-going academic monitoring using the Starfish program.
Â
4 – A relationship with the College’s Academic Support Center to provide student-athletes in need of further academic assistance with the resources necessary to improve their standing in a given course or courses.
Â
Every Westchester Community College student-athlete is a member of the V-CASE program during the period in which they maintain athletic eligibility. The specific schedule of meetings and academic support plan is determined each semester, and is based on a student-athlete’s grades, progress reports, and on-going monitoring efforts.
