Over the course of an illustrious career at Westchester Community College that has spanned the better part of four decades, Walter Hauck has seen just about everything related to Vikings Athletics. Beginning as a part-time employee of the Physical Education and Athletic Departments, Hauck was elevated to full-time status in 1983, holding a variety of roles, including Assistant Athletic Director from 1990-2016, Head Bowling Coach from 1993-present, and Head Golf Coach from 2003 to present. Hauck also spent eight years overseeing scheduling and lifeguard scheduling for the Westchester CC pool.
Now a Technician for the WCC Physical Education Department, Hauck remains the Head Bowling and Head Golf Coach for the Vikings. For the last 16 years, he has served as President of the NJCAA Bowling Coach's Association after serving as Vice President for 10 years. He is a member of the NJCAA Bowling Coach's Hall of Fame, and was the 2009-10 recipient of the Mary Ellen Leicht Service Award from the NJCAA. He has earned NJCAA Region XV Women's Bowling Coach of the Year three times, and Men's Bowling Coach of the Year once.
As Head Golf Coach, he led the Vikings to Mid-Hudson Conference Championships in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, and sent numerous individuals to the NJCAA National Championships.
Hauck also serves as President of the Mid-Hudson Conference. He was inducted into the Westchester CC Sports Hall of Fame in 2009.
