(Suffern, NY) - Sophomore Maurice Hollis (Bronx, NY/Tuckahoe HS) scored a career-high 16 points, including 10 during a terrific first-half stretch, as the Westchester Community College Men's Basketball team cruised to an 89-71 win over Rockland Community College on Tuesday night at Rockland. With the win, the Vikings improve to 8-3 overall, 3-1 in Mid-Hudson Conference play, and 2-1 in NJCAA Region XV competition.

Westchester jumped to a lead immediately after the opening tip-off, and never looked back. The Vikings led 49-29 at halftime, and increased the lead to 30 during the second half before a late Rockland run made things closer.

Five Vikings scored in double-figures as Devan Lawson (Spring Valley, NY/Spring Valley HS) had 11 points and eight rebounds, Joe Zayer (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South HS) chipped in 14 points to go with nine assists and six rebounds, Nathan Emanuel (Suffern, NY/Suffern HS) had 12 points after going six-for-seven from the floor, and Sean Hackes (White Plains, NY/Wakefield HS) had 10 points.
