(Valhalla, NY) - Sophomore
Paige Collins (Jamaica, NY/Wadleigh HS) recorded a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds, and freshman
Jada Tom (Elmsford, NY/Alexander Hamilton HS) scored 10 points and added six steals, but the Westchester Community College Women's Basketball team opened the 2018-19 season with a 56-29 loss to Ulster Community College on Tuesday night at Westchester CC.
Ulster (2-7) opened the game on an 11-0 run, but Westchester played determined, feisty basketball throughout the game to never allow the visiting Senators to get comfortable. Down 34-11 with 4:55 to play in the first half, the Vikings went on an 8-0 run with Tom scoring five points and Collins adding three to make it 34-19 with 3:56 to play until halftime, but that was as close as the Vikings would make it.
Shania Rodriguez (Bronx, NY/Soundview HS) chipped in five points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.
Westchester CC returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 6 when the Vikings travel to Orange Community College for a 5:00 p.m. match-up.
