The goal of the
ACE Program (Academic Commitment to Excellence) is to foster and develop an academic supportive environment that promotes academic achievement and degree completion among Westchester Community College student-athletes. This support is provided through the following initiatives:
- Regular face-to-face meetings between the Athletic Department Academic Support Coordinator and Westchester Community College student-athletes.
- Monthly progress reports sent on behalf of each Westchester Community College student-athlete to their faculty members.
- Ongoing academic monitoring including managing flags through Viking Success.
- Collaboration with the College’s Academic Support Center to connect student-athletes who need additional academic assistance with the resources necessary to improve their performance in one or more courses.
- Team focused study halls one hour per week in the Academic Support Center.
- Monitors degree program requirements and assist with registration process.
All Westchester Community College student-athletes participate in the Academic Support Coordinator program while maintaining athletic eligibility. Each semester, an individualized meeting schedule and academic support plan are developed based on the student-athlete’s grades, faculty progress reports, and ongoing academic monitoring.
