Box Score (Valhalla, NY) -
Denise Crockett (Yonkers, NY/Thornton HS) had another impressive game with a team-high 15 points, and
Evelyn Medina (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck HS) chipped in eight points, but the Westchester Community College Women's Basketball team lost to Sullivan Community College, 97-45 on Saturday at Viking Gymnasium. With the loss, the Vikings fall to 1-12 for the 2017-18 season with one game to play.
Facing one of the premiere teams in Region XV for the second time in four days, the Vikings displayed significant improvement this time around, scoring 21 more points than they did earlier this week despite a near-constant Sullivan full-court press and half-court trap. The first half featured a lot of competitive basketball as Westchester trailed 26-10 at the end of the first quarter, but brought the deficit back to 10 points early in the second quarter before trailing 43-24 at halftime. The second half saw the tide turn as Sullivan carried play for the final 20 minutes. But for WCC, the effort was there.
Also for Westchester,
Shannon Bandoo (Mount Vernon, NY/American Sign Language HS) and
Shanaya Jones (Bronx, NY/Health Opportunities HS) combined for 12 points.
Westchester Community College returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 22 when the Vikings travel to Bergen Community College for a 7:00 p.m. start.
