Women’s Basketball falls to Bronx CC despite strong Fourth Quarter

Box Score (Bronx, NY) - Paige Collins (Queens, NY/Wadleigh HS) netted career-highs in points (18) and rebounds (28), and Alexandria Knight (Briarcliff Manor, NY/Putnam Valley HS) chipped in a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, but the Westchester Community College Women's Basketball team lost a battle with Bronx Community College, 64-61 on Tuesday night at Bronx CC. With the loss, the Vikings fall to 0-8 for the 2017-18 season.

It was a tale of two halves as WCC fell behind early, trailing 21-15 at the end of the first quarter, and 39-26 at halftime. However, the Vikings battled valiantly throughout the second half, outscoring Bronx CC 14-13 during the third quarter, and 21-12 during the final stanza.

Shooting was the big difference between the teams as Bronx shot 58% (28-48) from the floor, while Westchester shot 23% (25-108).

Also for WCC, Shanaya Jones (Bronx, NY/Health Opportunities HS) scored 16 points, and added eight assists, six rebounds, and six steals; and Ambar Rincon (Yonkers, NY/Yonkers HS) amassed six points, 11 rebounds, and five assists.

Westchester Community College returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 8 when the Vikings host Borough of Manhattan Community College at 6:00 p.m. on 'Think Pink Night.' The game will be the first half of a doubleheader with the WCC Men's Basketball team.
