(Valhalla, NY) - 12 days after an incredible, five-set early-season match that saw Westchester Community College defeat SUNY Orange for the first time in at least three years, the Westchester CC Women's Volleyball team welcomed the Colts to Viking Gymnasium on Tuesday night for a match that brought with it huge post-season implications for both the Mid-Hudson Conference and Region XV. And while the match featured both teams in a position to win each set, it was the visiting Colts that came away with the victory, 3-0.
Orange (6-2, 5-2 Region XV, 2-1 Mid-Hudson Conference) swept the match 25-22, 28-26, and 25-18 in a match that was even closer than the set scores indicated.
For Westchester, sophomore
Lindsay Leggio (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac HS) notched a double-double with 19 assists and 11 digs, while
Madison Young (Greenburgh, NY/Woodlands HS) had a team-high 12 kills to go with two blocks and two digs. Additionally, sophomore Alysha Ownens (Mount Vernon, NY/Mount Vernon HS) had a terrific all-around match with nine blocks, six kills, and three digs, while
