Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Winning as we Noe it: Men’s Basketball Improves to 2-0 with 116-75 win over Hostos CC as Fleurimond earns MVP Honors

(Valhalla, NY) - The way the first half was going on Sunday afternoon, had Westchester Community College Men's Basketball Sophomore Noe Fleurimond (Greenburgh, NY/Woodlands HS) been asked to do anything short of a magic show on the Viking Gymnasium floor, he probably would have done it well. Fleurimond was simply all over the place, scoring 23 points and adding nine rebounds during the first 20 minutes alone, as Westchester CC improved to 2-0 for the 2021-2022 season with a resounding 116-75 win over Hostos Community College during the second day of the Johnny Jones Memorial Tip-Off Tournament.

It was the highest scoring output by a Westchester CC team since a 118-88 win over Dutchess Community College on Jan. 30, 2018.

Westchester shot an incredible 54% from the floor during the opening 20 minutes as Fleurimond went 9 for 13, and converted 5 for 7 from the free throw line. The Vikings also out-rebounded Hostos CC (1-1) 30-20, and forced 12 turnovers, while committing only seven during the stretch.

The second half saw much of the same as the Vikings broke the 100-point mark with more than eight minutes to play, and coasted to victory.

Fleurimond finished with 25 points, and 10 rebounds - shooting 10 for 16 from the floor - to earn Tournament MVP honors.

Also for the Vikings, freshman Eisaiah Murphy (White Plains, NY/White Plains HS) scored 18 points, and added four rebounds, sophomore Malik Moore (Tuckahoe, NY/Tuckahoe HS) notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 assists, and freshman Nokio Kennedy earned All-Tournament honors after completing a stellar weekend with 17 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Westchester CC shot 57% from the floor during the game, and out-rebounded Hostos 57-35.

Westchester CC returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 9 when the Vikings host Dutchess Community College at 7:00 p.m.
