Valhalla, NY – Women's Basketball used points from all on the roster to emerge victories against Bronx on Thursday. Contributions from both the starters and the bench combined for the 79-53 win.
Westchester jumped out to a 20-10 lead in the first quarter, helped by going 6 for 6 from the free-throw line. In the 2nd, the Vikings shot 40% from the floor to extend a 40-17 lead by halftime.
In addition to getting contributions up and down the depth chart, the Viking scoring was well-balanced throughout the game, scoring almost exactly 20 points per quarter. Adriana McFadden (Ossining, NY/Ossining HS) led SUNY Westchester with 25 points to go with 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 blocks. Mylene Smith (Peekskill, NY/Hendrick Hudson HS) posted 16 points and 4 steals. Amanda Entsuah (Bronx, NY/AIM Charter HS)and Irene Maris (Bronxville, NY/Tuckahoe HS) knocked down 8 points apiece and Shanice Wilcox (New Rochelle, NY/Mt. Vernon HS) continued her torrid start to the season on the boards as she secured 15 rebounds.
With the win, the Vikings move to 1-1 pm the season overall. They return to action on Friday, November 11th as they travel to Howard Community College to take on the Dragons at 5pm.
