Suffern, NY – The Lady Vikings started Region play strong with a commanding 78-31 victory over Rockland Community College. With the win, Westchester moves to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in region play.
The name of the game was defense for SUNY WCC. As a whole, the Vikings stole the ball 12 separate occasions, had 18 defensive rebounds, seven of which came from
Shanice Wilcox (New Rochelle, NY).
Gianna Marziliano (Harrison/West Harrison, NY) also contributed to the defensive rebound game adding four off the bench for SUNY WCC.
The Westchester offense was a balanced attack throughout the game. Five Vikings scored double digit points in line for the win. Wilcox had 15 to lead the team;
Mylene Smith (Hendrick Hudson/Peekskill, NY) had 12 points;
Dominique Gaydarik (St. Catherine Academy/Bronx, NY),
Krismelis Melo (LaGuardia/Bronx, NY), and
Irene Maris (Tuckahoe/Bronxville, NY) all had a solid 11 point game.
The Vikings look to their next game tomorrow when they host SUNY Sullivan for a 5pm game here in Viking Gymnasium.
