Valhalla, NY – Women's Basketball was unable to complete at 4
th quarter comeback versus Suffolk on Saturday, as the team fell behind early and never recovered. When the final buzzer sounded the Vikings were defeated 58-51.
The game started off slowly for both teams as neither could get into a scoring groove. Westchester struggled to just 9 points in the first quarter and trailed 13-9 after one. But the team turned it on in the 2
nd, rallying for 18 points in the 2
nd to trail the Sharks 29-27 at the half.
But scoring went away again in the 3
rd as the team was only able to muster 8 points and fell behind Suffolk once again. A 4
th quarter charge fell short as time ran out, sending the Vikings to their 2
nd loss of the week.
Brianna Melo (Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn Community Arts and Media) scored a season high 13 points.
Shanice Wilcox (New Rochelle, NY) also put up 13 to go with 18 boards.
Mylene Smith (Peekskill, NY/Henrick Hudson HS) chipped in with 12 points and 7 rebounds.
With the loss the Vikings fall to 3-6 on the season. Westchester returns to action on Tuesday, December 6
th as the welcome Monroe College for a 5pm tip off.
