(Valhalla, NY) - Sophomore CJ Spence (Mount Vernon, NY/Mount Vernon HS) continued the finest stretch of play of his career, going 3 for 3 with a walk, three more RBI's and four more runs scored, and freshmen Michael Ambrosecchia (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac HS) and Anthony Dolce (North Salem, NY/North Salem HS) collected three hits apiece as the Westchester Community College Baseball team opened their NJCAA Region XV series with Sullivan Community College with a 15-7 win on Tuesday afternoon at Vikings Field. With the win, Westchester CC is now 14-11 overall, and 3-2 in Region XV/Mid-Hudson Confrence play.

Westchester took a 7-0 lead after two innings, and never looked back, continuing their recent offensive fireworks. Over their last six games, the Vikings have averaged an incredible 14.5 runs per game, scoring fewer than 10 runs only once during that span.

Spence is a big factor behind the recent offensive explosion. On March 27, Spence was hitting .167, and hadn't recorded a multi-hit game over the first 15 games of the season. Since then, over the last six games, Spence is hitting .560 (14 for 25) with 14 RBI's, and 15 runs scored. He hasn't had fewer than two hits in a game during this stretch. 

Also for Westchester, freshman AJ Falciglia (Elmsford, NY/Stepinac) went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's and two runs scored, while freshman Michael Manganiello (Yonkers, NY/Stepinac) went 2 for 4 with a run scored. 

Freshman Alvy Grullon (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond) improved to 2-1 for the 2022 season, allowing four earned runs over five innings, while striking out three.

Westchester CC returns to Region XV play on Thursday, April 14, when the Vikings travel to Orange Community College for a 3:30 p.m. start.
