Suffern, NY – The Vikings fell to Conference foe Rockland yesterday 9-4 dropping them to 32-6 and 7-2 in Mid-Hudson Conference play.
For the second time in the last three games, Westchester's offense struggled to get timely hitting despite a two-homerun performance from third baseman
Weston Baronian (Pascack Valley HS/River Vale, NJ). The Vikings would go down 1-0 early to the Hawks (14-22, 5-0 MHC) and the uphill battle began. Westchester would take a 2-1 lead after the fourth, however, SUNY RCC would answer right back with two runs in both the fifth and sixth inning. SUNY WCC would cut the lead to one in the top half of the eighth inning before Rockland's offense would break open the game with four runs in the bottom half of the inning.
In total, Westchester would scatter nine hits on the afternoon, three of which came from Baronian. Starting pitcher
Ryan Osso (Eastchester HS/Eastchester, NY) would receive his first loss of the year. Rockland was lead by Ben Partridge who went three for four, two doubles, a homerun, and four RBI's and starting pitcher Jake Laura who threw eight innings and struck out five.
