LB Stock Continues to Soar! Vikings Mercy Hawks in Game 2 of Series

Suffern, NY – The Vikings ended their three-game losing streak with a huge 15-5 victory over Rockland on Friday afternoon pushing their record to 33-6 and 8-2 in Conference play.

Westchester's offense seemed to have the offensive answer for the Hawks. Rockland would get on the board first in with a run the bottom half of the first. The Vikings would answer right back with a run of their own in the top of the second, third, and fourth innings respectively to take an early 3-1 lead. SUNY Rockland would answer back in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at three and put the pressure back on SUNY WCC. The Vikings were up to the task, taking the lead back in the top of the seventh scoring three runs while holding RCC to just two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Westchester would blow the game open putting up a 9-run inning in the top of the eighth. The Vikings pounded out 14 hits over the eight-inning affair while only committing one error.

Marc Stockhausen (St. Raymond's HS/Bronx, NY) led the offense going a perfect 5-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI. Luisbert Frias (Port Chester HS/Port Chester, NY) may have made the most noise at the plate clobbering two home runs over the center field fence while scoring three runs and plating three RBI's. Ryan Osso (Eastchester HS/Eastchester, NY) and Michael Ambrosecchia (Mahopac HS/Mahopac, NY) would both contribute two-hits each and five RBI's between the two.

Westchester relied on starting pitcher Thomas Browne (Pleasantville HS/Pleasantville, NY) to help them push past Rockland and their three-game slide. Browne, would throw a complete game while allowing nine hits and struck out seven in his team-leading eighth win of the year.

The Vikings look to come away with a series win on Saturday April 22nd when they host the Hawks in a 12pm doubleheader right here at Vikings Field.
