Valhalla, NY – A two goal performance by
Handell Dos Santos helped vault the Vikings to a commanding 6-1 victory over Mid-Hudson Conference for SUNY Orange yesterday afternoon.
On what was a picture perfect day on Barrett Field, a day after Mother Nature continued her unsettled weather pattern on Tuesday, SUNY Westchester looked to continue their winning ways on the pitch. Dos Santos would get the Vikings started early with a goal in the 12
th minute, assisted by
Oliver Tecuapetla. Less than 15 minutes later, Handell would find the back of the net again with an assist by
Andrew Martinez to put SUNY Westchester up by two goals within the first half. Martinez however was not done helping his teammates out. In the 36
th minute, Andrew would give
Maximos Matailo his first goal of the season putting Westchester up 3-0. Finishing off the first half would be newcomer
Issa Sodiq Onisese scoring his first goal of the year in the 38
th minute thanks to an assist by
Carliston Brown. The Vikings outshot the Colts 9-4 in the first half only testing Westchester Goalie
Nicholas Nunez once.
The second half saw much of the same for SUNY WCC.
Lorenzo Santucci would get in on the action two minutes into the half with his third goal of the year putting the Viking lead to 5-0. The Colts (0-4-1, 0-3-1) would get on the board in the 51
st minute with a goal by Jesus Ochoa Chavez. Wrapping up the match would be the final goal by
Emmanuel De Oleo assisted by Santucci.
Overall, the Vikings outshot SUNY Orange 17-11, 11-5 on goal, we even on corner kicks with four apiece, while the Colts edged the Vikings in saves 5-4.
Westchester heads right back out on the pitch today, September 28
th, with a regional away game against Kingsborough Community College. Kickoff is at 6pm.
