How Sweep It Tis! Freshman Helps Carry Vikings to 4-Game Sweep of Rockland

Valhalla, NY/Suffern, NY – The Vikings took home three solid wins and swept their Mid-Hudson Conference Series against Rockland on Friday April 26th and Saturday April 27th improving to 22-14 on the year and 4-4 in Conference play.
 
Game 2: 14-2 W Friday 4/26
 
Michael Dawson scattered four hits through his seven-inning complete game earning his sixth win of the season while striking out six. The Westchester offense continued to swing their hot bats from Thursday's comeback victory belting out 11 hits and scoring 14 runs. Tommy Poggi would lead the team with three hits of his own including a triple while Marc Stockhausen would add two of his own including a double and two RBIs. The biggest blow in the game came in the bottom of the seventh inning when Mike Tiseo came up to the plate with two runners on. Tiseo would blast a three-run homer over the left-centerfield wall to end the game adding to his five RBI performance.
 
Game 3: 9-6 W Saturday 4/27
 
Mike Tiseo continued to light up the scoreboard with yet another homerun in the series. The Vikings were down 4-0 until the top of the fifth when they scored four unanswered to tie the game. The Hawks looking to take game one of the doubleheader would score two runs in the bottom half of the inning regain their lead. Westchester would answer right back scoring five runs over the sixth and seventh innings to solidify the win. Four Viking batters would have two hits in the game. AJ Falciglia would earn his second win of the season pitching the final 2 1/3 innings allowing only one hit while striking out four.
 
Game 4: 8-5 Saturday 4/27
 
Both Gavin Carlucci and Tommy Poggi had homeruns as the Vikings took home the final game of the series with an 8-5 victory. Westchester would go down by five heading into the third inning before they would cut the Hawk lead to one. Starting pitcher Mark Yorio would settle down and hold Rockland to zero runs over four innings. SUNY WCC would take the lead in the top of the fifth with two runs scored and would add two more insurance runs in the top half of the sixth. Mike Kocovic would earn his first save of the year tossing a scoreless seventh.
 
Westchester looks towards the finish line with the end of the regular season coming this week with games against Bergen CC and their final Mid-Hudson Conference match-up against SUNY Orange.
 
The Vikings host Bergen tomorrow for a 3:30pm game here at Vikings Field. Westchester will then travel to Middletown, NY both Thursday and Friday to take on the Colts of SUNY Orange. Both days first pitch is slated for 4pm. The series will wrap up on Saturday when Orange travels down to Vikings Field for a 12pm doubleheader. Saturday will also be Sophomore Day, celebrating the final time 10 Sophomore's will play in the regular season on Vikings Field.
