Valhalla, NY - This past Saturday the men's basketball team returned to action in the annual and always competitive Monroe Mixer, hosted by the Broncos of Monroe University in New Rochelle. The Vikings however played Cecil College from Maryland in the first game of the tournament.
Â
It was a game where both teams shot the ball very well and specifically from three point range. Westchester would have three players score in double figures, three sophomores, Tarik Dacosta(Marist High School/Bronx, NY), Fari Joseph(St. Raymond's High School/Bronx, NY) and Tiziah Spears(Brooklyn College Academy/Brooklyn, NY). Unfortunately the Seahawks just did not miss in the first half and grew a 17 point lead into the break that was too much for WCC to overcome.Â
Â
The Vikings looked to turn it around on Sunday against a very competitive and skilled Monroe Mustangs Team. Unfortunately Westchester ran into another team who was hot and was never able to gain any traction in a comeback effort. Sophomore Fari Joseph had 18 points and 4 assists in the loss.Â
Â
The men will return to action this Thursday as they head south to Trenton, NJ to face Mercer County Community College in a double header with the Women's team. The Lady Vikings play at 5 and then men follow at 7 PM.
