Valhalla, NY- After a very gritty victory this past weekend vs the #6 Division Three Juco in America the Lady Vikings found themselves home at Viking Gymnasium for their final conference game of the season. They faced the hawks of Rockland Community College. They won the contest in dominant fashion by a score 83-34.
Just before the action started WCC honored three sophomores who will be moving on once the season concludes. Ziacera Sexton(Pomona, NY/North Rockland High School), Pieta Trinidad(Yonkers, NY/Gorton High School), and Team Captain, Angelica Rios(Ossining, NY/Ossining High School). All three of them were able to find the bottom of the basket in victory. Sexton knocked down a midrange jumper early in the second quarter for her two points. Rios scored 10 and so did Trinidad. This gave Pieta a new career high!
History was made last night at Viking Gymnasium. A new single game point total was set, as freshmen standout Saniya Bell(Ossining, NY/Ossining High School) scored 40 points in the dominating win. She also had 7 rebounds to go along with three steals. Bell is averaging 28 points over her last 7 games. Freshman Dyshalah Johnson also had an impressive stat line as she only finished with 2 points but snagged 10 rebounds and dished out 7 assists. This was her second double digit rebound game of the season.
The Lady Vikings will return to action this Sunday as they head north for a game against Herkimer Community College. This will be a rematch from December 3rd, when Westchester defeated the Generals by 13. The game will take place at 1:00 PM. The game will be streamed at this link.
