After a two-year hiatus, the Westchester Community College golf program returned to competition in 2026 with one goal in mind: restoring the Vikings to prominence. What followed was a remarkable season defined by resilience, determination, and success. Against the odds, Westchester quickly reestablished itself as one of the top programs in the region, earning a berth in the NJCAA National Championship Tournament and completing one of the most impressive comeback seasons in program history.
Led by a dedicated group of student-athletes and a renewed sense of purpose, the Vikings turned their long-awaited return into a season to remember, proving that time away had only strengthened their commitment to excellence. From the opening tee shot of the season to the final qualifying round, Westchester showcased the talent and perseverance necessary to compete on the national stage.
Just getting here however was not everyone's only goal. With so many amazing student athletes being on the national stage just getting there is an accomplishment but not for Emily Hernandez(Hartsdale, NY/Saunders High School). After 2 days of competition she found herself in the top 10. She started day 2 ranked at 17 and jumped up 7 spots! She struggled on day 1 shooting a 101 but bounced back in a big way on day 2 shooting an impressive 88. Continue to make Westchester Proud.Â
