Women's Volleyball falls in four-set battle with Rockland CC

Box Score (Valhalla, NY) - The Westchester Community College Women's Volleyball team battled Region XV powerhouse Rockland Community College every step of the way on Tuesday night, ultimately falling 3-1 to the Hawks.

Rockland (14-3, 12-2 Region XV) who entered the match ranked #2 in Region XV took the opening set, 25-23, before Westchester CC came back to win the second set, 26-24. Rockland then won the final two sets, 25-17 and 25-14 to earn their fourth straight win.

For WCC, Makayla Morrison had another fantastic match, particularly at the net, as she registered six solo blocks, 10 assisted blocks, and three kills. Alysha Owens narrowly missed a double-double with nine kills and 14 digs, Crystal Alcantara added seven kills and 10 assisted blocks, and Lindsay Leggio registered 24 assists.

Westchester (7-9, 7-8 Region XV) saw their two-match winning streak come to an end, but the Vikings will look to get back to their winning ways when they return to Viking Gymnasium on Thursday, Oct. 19 when they host Ulster Community College at 7:00 p.m. The match will be WCC's final home contest of the 2017 season, and prior to the match, the team's sophomore class will be honored for their meritorious service to the Women's Volleyball program and Athletic Department.
