Women's Volleyball closes 2017 home slate with loss to Ulster CC

Box Score (Valhalla, NY) - Rachel Mendes had seven kills and a team-high 11 digs, and Alysha Owens added six kills and six digs, but the Westchester Community College Women's Volleyball team closed its 2017 home schedule with a 3-1 loss to Ulster Community College on Thursday night at Viking Gymnasium. With their second straight loss, WCC falls to 7-10 for the season heading into the final weekend of regular season play.

Ulster (9-5) won the opening set in a 25-21 battle, before WCC took the second set 25-17. The Senators then won the match with 25-10 and 25-18 wins in the final two sets.

Aside from strong efforts by Mendes and Owens, the Vikings were led by Lindsay Leggio, who registered 13 assists and six service aces.

WCC closes the 2017 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 21 when they travel to Borough of Manhattan Community College for a tri-match with BMCC and FIT. The opening match for the Vikings will be at 12:00 p.m.

After the match, the Vikings honored four sophomores for their meritorious service to the Athletic Department and Volleyball program during the last two years. Crystal Alcantara, Wiktoria Swiechowska, Andrea Huanca, and Rachel Mendes celebrated at the conclusion of their final match for WCC.
