Men's Basketball vs. Nassau CC

Fenton, Fraiser lead Men's Basketball past Nassau CC

Jan 18

Box Score (Valhalla, NY) - Raykwon Fenton (Bronx, NY/Holcombe Rucker) scored a career-high 33 points, and Tremaine Fraiser (Port Chester, NY/Trinity Catholic) also added a career-best with 28 points as the Westchester Community College Men's Basketball team notched a 93-83 win over regional powerhouse Nassau Community College on Thursday night at Viking Gymnasium. With the win, Westchester Community College has still not been outscored by an opponent during 14 games this season.

It was a battle from start to finish as both teams played up-tempo, much to the delight of a packed Viking Gymnasium. It was close throughout the first half, but a late WCC run gave the Vikings a 45-33 halftime lead. The Westchester 12-point edge at halftime extended to 15 points midway through the second half, but Nassau did not go down without a fight. The Lions went on an 18-2 run that included five three-pointers, and took a one-point lead with 9:08 remaining. That's when Fenton and Fraiser took over for good. Fenton hit two of his five three-pointers late, and Fraiser made several clutch baskets as Westchester regained the lead, and never looked back.

Also for WCC, Pierre Lys (Greenburgh, NY/Woodlands HS) scored 15 points, including an 8 for 10 effort from the free throw line, and Gabriel Cruz (Bronx, NY/In-Tech Academy) added 10 points.
Westchester returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 20 when the Vikings travel to Raritan Valley Community College for a 1:00 p.m. start.
