Tremaine Fraiser (Port Chester, NY/Trinity Catholic) scored a team-high 20 points, and
Raykwon Fenton (Bronx, NY/Holcombe Rucker HS) scored all 15 of his points during the second half of play as the Westchester Community College Men's Basketball team rallied for an 82-59 win over Community College of Rhode Island on Saturday at CCRI. With the win, WCC still has not been outscored by an opponent during 22 games this season.
CCRI came out flying, outscoring the Vikings 13-4 over the first 3:57, and the hosts led by nine as late as 13:25 remaining in the first half, and 21-15 with 11:37 to play in the opening stanza. However, Westchester rallied late, taking a 30-28 lead with 5:29 to play in the first half. The two teams went back and fourth for the remainder of the half, and were tied at 36 at the break.
The second half was a completely different story as WCC went ahead quickly, and never looked back. The Vikings outscored CCRI an incredible 46-23 during the final 20 minutes, leading at one point by as many as 31 before a late Knight rally made things closer.
Five Vikings scored in double figures as
Pierre Lys (Greenburgh, NY/Woodlands chipped in 14 points,
Drew Bronen (Suffern, NY/Suffern HS) added 13 points, and
Gabriel Cruz (Bronx, NY/In-Tech Academy) added 11 points.
WCC returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 13 when the Vikings travel to Sullivan Community College for a 7:00 game to complete the basketball doubleheader at Sullivan. The Generals are currently ranked #3 in the NJCAA.
