Volleyball Swept by Nassau/Suffolk during Saturday Tri-match

(Selden, NY) - Sophomore Gabriela Faria (Yonkers, NY/Saunders HS) had a combined 14 kills and six total blocks, and fellow sophomore Melody Pabon (Bronx, NY/Celia Cruz) added six kills and 18 total digs, but the Westchester Community College Women's Volleyball team dropped both matches of a Long Island tri-match against Nassau Community College and Suffolk Community College on Saturday at Suffolk Community College. 

With the losses, the Vikings are now 5-12 overall and 5-11 in NJCAA Region XV play. The losses also eliminate the Vikings from the 2019 Region XV playoff picture. 

Westchester fell 22-25, 21-25, and 10-25 to Nassau despite Faria and Pabon combining for 13 kills, and Pabon adding four digs, and Faria amassing three blocks. Also for Westchester, freshman Stefania Rinaldi (White Plains, NY/Valhalla HS) added five digs, five assists, and three service aces. 

The Vikings were also swept by Suffolk CC, 9-25, 12-25, and 24-26. Pabon enjoyed a fantastic match with three kills and 14 digs, while Faria had seven kills and three blocks. Rinaldi added six digs and four assists, while sophomore Jurnee Reid (Sleepy Hollow, NY/Ossining HS) chipped in six digs. 

Westchester CC returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 15 for their 2019 home finale against Rockland Community College at 7:00 p.m.
