(Valhalla, NY) - As America prepares to celebrate Thanksgiving 2019, all across the country, families are longing to spend the evening with one another and cure their ills with some quality home cooking. One week before the holiday, the Westchester Community College Women's Basketball team could not be more thankful for a home feast. Freshman
Donjeta Prelvukaj (Bronx, NY/St. Catharine) scored 25 points, and added five rebounds and five steals, and fellow freshman
Jailine Ruiz (Bronx, NY/William Cullen Bryant HS) chipped in a career-high 23 points and added eight rebounds as Westchester broke a four-game losing streak with a 75-54 win over Rockland Community College on Thursday night at Viking Gymnasium.
With the win, Westchester is now 2-6 overall, and 1-1 in NJCAA Region XV/Mid-Hudson Conference play.

Playing for the first time at home this season, the Vikings fell behind 4-3 with 7:06 to play in the first quarter, and that was about the worst thing that happened all night for Westchester. A Ruiz three-pointer 44 seconds later gave WCC the lead for good as the Vikings went on an incredible 20-4 run to end the opening stanza, and allow Westchester to cruise to victory. The Vikings shot an incredible 71% (10 for 14) during the first 10 minutes, blowing up a game that was otherwise very close during the next three quarters.
Westchester CC led by as many as 21 points during the second quarter before a late Rockland (1-3, 0-2) rally made things closer, and the Vikings led 41-26 at halftime.
The second half saw much of the same as Westchester led by as many as 25 points, before winning for the second time this season.
Freshman
Tina Fabrizi (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck HS) added 11 points and four rebounds while
Marisol Rodriguez (New York, NY/High School for Economics & Finance) added six points and five rebounds.
Westchester CC returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 23 when the Vikings travel to Passaic County Community College for a 12:30 p.m. start.
