(Valhalla, NY) - 37 days later, the Westchester Community College Women's Basketball team finally lost a game ... but it took an NJCAA Division I foe to do it. Riding streaks of three straight wins, and six wins over their last eight games to break the .500 mark for the first time since women's basketball returned to Westchester Community College as a varsity sport three seasons ago, Westchester fell 79-28 to visiting Monroe College on Thursday night at Viking Gymnasium. With the loss, Westchester falls to 9-9 for the 2019-2020 season. The loss was also Westchester's first of 2020.
Monroe College (12-9) scored the game's first eight points over 4:17 to take command of the game, as the Vikings struggled to find an offensive rhythm, missing their first 10 field goal attempts. The Mustangs led 19-4 at the end of the first quarter, extended the lead to 41-15 at halftime, and led by as many as 46 heading into the fourth quarter. However, the Vikings played a much better final stanza, scoring 13 points over the last 10 minutes.
