(North Branch, NJ) - Freshman
Justyn Huger (Harlem, NY/Thurgood Marshall HS) scored a career-high 26 points, and sophomore
Anthony Monti (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond's) added 22 points, but the Westchester Community College Men's Basketball team lost its second-straight game, 87-80 to Raritan Valley Community College on Saturday afternoon at RVCC. With the loss, the Vikings are now 19-7 overall, with five out of seven losses coming on the road.
RVCC opened up a 16-point lead early, and led by nine as halftime, before Westchester went on a second-half run that allowed the Vikings to take the lead late in the game. However, RVCC rallied at the end to secure the win.
Shooting and turnovers were the culprit as Westchester shot 38%, compared to 48% for RVCC, and the Vikings committed 14 turnovers, compared to seven by RVCC. The Vikings, however, did have a 61-29 advantage in rebounds.
Also for the Vikings, sophomore
Joe Zayer (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South HS) added 13 points, while sophomore
James Brady (Yonkers, NY/Mount Saint Michael) had seven points, and a game-high 15 rebounds.
Westchester CC returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 18 when the Vikings host Ulster Community College at 7:00 p.m. for their final Region XV match-up for the 2019-2020 season.
