(Selden, NY) - Freshman
Brian Guaman (White Plains, NY/White Plains HS) made nine saves, and the Viking defense held a strong Suffolk CC attack to a single goal over the first 84 minutes, but the Westchester Community College Men's Soccer team saw their 2021 season come to an end with a 3-0 loss to third-seeded Suffolk CC on Saturday afternoon at Suffolk. With the loss, the Vikings end the campaign with a 5-7 record.
Suffolk (10-4) scored in the 10th minute off of a set play on a corner kick, to take an early 1-0 lead. However, from there, play remained even for most of the game, with both teams coming close on scoring attempts, but neither converting. However, during the final minutes of the game, as Westchester desperately attempted to find a way to tie, the Vikings were called for fouls inside the defensive penalty box during the 84th and 88th minutes. Suffolk converted both opportunities for the 3-0 final.
Suffolk out-shot the Vikings 12-7, and had seven corner kicks, while the Vikings did not have any.
Westchester CC now looks forward to the 2022 season when the Vikings are expected to return most of their 2021 roster, and a full recruiting class as well.
