Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

End of the Streak: Men’s Soccer Falls 1-0 to Ulster CC, Breaking 25-game Mid-Hudson Conference Run

(Accord, NY) - It took seven years and 25 games, but somebody from the Mid-Hudson Conference finally beat Westchester Community College in Men's Soccer. Moments after Saturday's 1-0 win for Ulster Community College came to a close, two things were evident: The Vikings are going to face their biggest threat to end their five-season stranglehold on Mid-Hudson Conference Soccer, and if WCC is going to make it a six-peat, for the first time during this incredible run, they will have to do so away from the friendly confines of Barrett Field.

Freshman Brian Guaman (White Plains, NY/White Plains HS) stopped six out of the seven shots he faced, and the Viking defense held an opponent to one of few goals for the fourth straight game, but the effort was not enough as Ulster CC improved to 7-2 overall and 5-0 in conference play, while the Vikings are now 5-4 overall, and 4-1 in the Mid-Hudson Conference.

Westchester's last loss within the conference was a 5-3 loss to Rockland CC on Sept. 23, 2014. From there the Vikings won the next 25 conference tilts, including five straight Mid-Hudson Championships. The loss also ends a string of at least nine straight wins for the Vikings over Ulster, dating back to 2012..

Westchester CC and Ulster CC will meet in the Mid-Hudson Conference Championship Game for the third straight season, but this time the Senators will host the title tilt, on a date and time to be determined. The Vikings won 4-1 to capture the championships in both 2018 and 2019 at home.
