Eisaiah Murphy (White Plains, NY/White Plains HS) notched his first career double-double, scoring a career-high 28 points, while adding 10 rebounds, and sophomore
Noe Fleurimond (Greenburgh, NY/Woodlands HS) continued his torrid start to the season, with 21 points, five rebounds, and five assists, as the Westchester Community College Basketball team improved to 4-0 with a 97-76 win over Bronx Community College on Thursday evening at Bronx CC.
For the second straight game, the Vikings blew the game open early, but this time Westchester maintained a healthy lead throughout. Bronx CC scored with 17:53 to play in the first half to make it an 8-6 Westchester lead. However, from there, the Vikings went on an incredible 29-4 run over an eight-minute span to make it 37-10. Westchester went ahead by as many as 31 points during the first half. A late Bronx rally made it more interesting at halftime as the Vikings' lead was cut to 55-38.
Bronx did make a game of it early in the second half. A Broncos (1-2) basket with 16:16 to play made it a 59-50 Westchester lead, but the Vikings responded with a 12-3 run to increase the lead to 18 points, and Bronx never threatened again.
Sophomore
Malik Moore (Tuckahoe, NY/Tuckahoe HS) added 10 points and six rebounds. Every Viking who appeared in the game scored at least two points.
Westchester shot 61% from the floor, compared to 41% for Bronx CC, and the Vikings dominated the boards, grabbing 49 rebounds to 29 for Bronx CC.
Westchester Community College returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 16 when the Vikings host Rockland Community College at 7:00 p.m.
