(Groton, CT) - To demonstrate how big of a win Saturday's 77-72 triumph over UConn-Avery Point was for the Westchester Community College Women's Basketball team, it is important to note that the Pointers were ranked #7 in the country after the first week of competition during the 2021-2022 season. Nonetheless, Westchester CC played arguably its most complete game of the Karim McFarlane era on the road on Saturday finishing a back-and-forth affair to improve their record to 2-2.

The win marks the first time the Vikings will be a .500 or better team entering Thanksgiving in seven seasons.

Sophomore Donjeta Prelvukaj (Bronx, NYSt. Catharine) enjoyed the finest game of her second season, and one of the best games of her career, scoring 31 total points, 20 of which came after halftime. Also for the Vikings, freshman Kylee Taxiera (Ossining, NY/Ossining HS) added 15 points. 

After the Thanksgiving break, the Vikings return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 30 when they travel to Hostos CC for a 7:00 p.m. game. The contest will be Westchester's third of a five-game road trip.
