Box Score (Brooklyn, NY) - 48 hours ago, the Westchester Community College Women's Basketball team improved to .500 on the heels of a career-best performance by a freshman who seems to be coming into her own as a college basketball player. What is even more encouraging for the Vikings, is that she is not the only one. On Saturday, freshman
Kylee Taxiera (Ossining, NY/Ossining HS) enjoyed a career-best performance of her own, scoring 35 points, as the Vikings earned their second straight win with an 87-56 win over Kingsborough Community College. The game was played at Kingsborough CC.
With the win, Westchester improves to 5-4 for the 2021-2022 season.
How good was Taxiera? With a 12.3 point per game average to begin the season, she is enjoying a solid rookie campaign by any measure. However, Saturday's performance was simply incredible as Taxiera's pervious career high was a 17-point effort during Westchester's season-opening win over Bergen CC on Nov. 6. She his a career-best six three-pointers, and 22 of her 35 points came after halftime.
The Vikings led 41-24 at halftime, and 66-42 after three quarters while cruising to a win that marked Westchester's best offensive output in a game this season.
Also for Westchester, freshman
Mylene Smith (Peekskill, NY/Hendrick Hudson HS) scored 22 points, while freshman
Adriana McFadden (Ossining, NY/Ossining HS) added 12 points, and sophomore
Donjeta Prelvukaj (Bronx, NY/St. Catharine) had 10 points.
Westchester CC returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 14 when the Vikings host Essex Community College at 5:00 p.m.
