Kings Park, NY – Last week, Women's Cross Country finished a race as a team for the first time in SUNY Westchester's history, this week they are champions. Region XV Champions. On Saturday, the team traveled to Sunken Meadow State Park for the St. Joseph's College Invitational, which served as the Regional Championship. The Vikings bested Queensborough scoring 18 points to the Tigers' 37.
Westchester ran 1
st, 2
nd, 3
rd, 4
th and 10
th in the region to take home the team title.
Mylene Smith finished as Region XV Champion completed the course in 24:01. Vania Nerea Diaz Santos, as she has all season, ran the race right beside Mylene, finishing 2
nd in 24:05.
Paula Camila Bermeo Chumbi finished 3
rd stopping the clock at 27:50. Newcomer
Irene Maris finished 4
th in a time of 31:17 and
Gianna Marziliano (36:29) was the last scorer in 8th
th place within the region.
