John Peteani (Yonkers, NY/Saunders HS) pitched 3.2 outstanding innings to earn his first career win, as the Westchester Community College Baseball team won its second consecutive game, 18-9 over Hudson Valley Community College on Thursday afternoon in Winter Haven, Florida. With the win, the Vikings are now 6-7 for the 2022 season.
After Hudson Valley scored a run during the bottom of the first inning to take the lead, the Vikings scored twice during the top of the second inning, and seven more times an inning later, to all but put the game away. Westchester scored during each of the final six innings, and reached a season-high with 17 hits during the offensive outburst.
Ambrosecchia had a double and two singles, scored a run, and stole a base, to improve his batting average to a team-best .429 for the season.
Six different Vikings had at least two hits, including freshman
Luisbert Frias (Port Chester, NY/Port Chester HS), who continues his torrid stretch as Frias went 3 for 4 with two RBI's and three runs scored. Freshman
Weston Baronian (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley HS) went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Freshman
Don Hopper (Garrison, NY/Walter Panas HS) went 3 for 5 with two runs scored. Freshman
Matt Jacobson (Putnam Valley, NY/Putnam Valley HS) went 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored, and freshman
Jace Deiulio (Mohegan Lake, NY/Lakeland HS) went 2 for 4 with two RBI's and two runs scored.
Peteani pitched 3.2 innings in relief, allowing one earned run, while striking out four, and walking two.
