Bronx, NY – On a picture-perfect afternoon yesterday, the Vikings edged out the Bronco's in a 5-3 victory thanks to a hat trick by
Carliston Brown.
On the pitch of Ohio Field at Bronx Community College, SUNY Westchester came in riding on a tough two-game losing streak. The Vikings were eager to flip the script and come back to their winning ways. Westchester would get on the board first with Bown's first goal of the afternoon in the 10
th minute on an assist from
Elvin Mejia. Not long after his first goal, Carliston would capitalize on another Mejia assist in the 16
th minute to put the Vikings up two nothing. After the second goal, the first half seemed to quiet down heading into halftime.
The second half was quite action packed.
Miguel Neulaguari would open up the 56
th minute with a goal of his own putting Westchester up three thanks to an assist from
Maximos Matailo. The ultimate goal would come in the 57
th minute to seal the hat-trick for Brown with an assist from
Andrew Martinez putting the Vikings in the driver's seat up four with under 43 minutes remaining. The Bronco's would make it a game in both the 65
th and 66
th minute thanks to two goals by Abdul Mohammed.
Jose Perez would add the insurance goal in the 71
st minute for SUNY WCC. Not to be outdone, Mohammed would score his third goal of the afternoon in the 80
th minute to put the Bronco's back in striking distance however, the Vikings would hold onto their fifth victory of the year.
Nicholas Nunez would add seven saves in Westchester's win.
The Vikings look to tomorrow, October 5
th, when they travel out onto the island to take on the Sixth-ranked Sharks of Suffolk Community College. Kickoff will be at 4pm.
