Bronx, NY – The Vikings earned their first win of the 2023-24 season last night thanks to a strong second half over Bronx Community College 81-67.
Westchester would come out sluggish in the first half only scoring 30 points over the Bronco defense meanwhile Bronx CC would come out firing on all cylinders hitting basically every shot they took. The Vikings were looking forward to halftime to reset themselves and prove there was more left in the tank.
Coming out of halftime down 14, SUNY WCC would regain their composure and take control of the game. Holding the Broncos to 23 second half points, Westchester would take the advantage adding 51 points to come from behind and get the 14-point victory. The Vikings were led by
Eli Hernandez who had a game high 24 points and nine assists. Not to be outdone,
Aaron Nicholas also had a solid performance with a 21-point game.
Mo Fofana added eight rebounds in the win.
Westchester will now head to North Branch, NJ to take on the Lions of Raritan Valley on Saturday November 11
th for a 2pm tip-off. Last season the Vikings split their season series with Raritan with an 87-81 loss at Raritan back on November 15
th, 2022 meanwhile getting a 100-80 victory on January 17
th 2023. The Lions currently hold four wins in seven matchups over the Vikings dating back to 2018.
