Valhalla, NY – Powered by a career high 29 points from
Milagros Alston, the Vikings rolled past Conference/Regional foe Rockland Community College 100-45 Thursday evening in Viking Gymnasium.
What truly was a battle of roster numbers for both teams turned into a game of turnovers and depth. Westchester having the ability to sub and rotate their players ultimately contributed to the win. The Vikings would break open the game in the first half scoring 56 points while holding the Hawks (1-4) to 18 while forcing them to turn the ball over 32 times.
It would be more of the same in the second half of the contest with SUNY Westchester scoring 44 points and holding Rockland to almost half with 27 points scored. The Hawks would be led by Jordan Angeli who had a team high 19 points.
The Vikings had five players in double-figure points. Alston with her 29,
Baronique Russell had 23,
Marjorie Muniz added 16 points off the bench,
Jaida Tejada had 13 points, while
Chynna Mincey added 11 points which was a career-high for her and 15 rebounds.
Westchester's next game will be on Tuesday December 5
th when they travel up to Sullivan County to take on the Generals of SUNY Sullivan. Tip-off at the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse will be at 5pm.
