Sanborn, NY – SUNY Westchester traveled out to Niagara Community College this past weekend for the Thunderwolves Holiday Classic where they took on host Niagara CC and Monroe Community College over the course of two days.
 
GAME 1: 76-66 L
 
Despite a solid first half, the Vikings fell to host Niagara Community College 76-66 Saturday evening at the Thunderwolves Holiday Classic.
 
SUNY Westchester came out shooting strong in the first half scoring 42 total points all in part from shooting 66% from beyond the arc while shooting 55% overall. Josendy Nova would be lights out going a perfect 4-4 from the three-point line, 2-2 from the charity stripe, and adding six rebounds and two steals with his 16 points. Wyatt Triestman would also add eight points.
 
The second half proved to be the pivotal mark for the Vikings. Nova would enter the half ice cold while committing five turnovers. Triestman tried to float the SUNY WCC offense adding 11 points however, the Vikings would shoot 30% from the floor and only 50% from the free-throw line. Westchester's offense would commit a total of 16 turnovers which ultimately would cost them the win.
 
Triestman would lead the Vikings with 19 points with Nova following right behind him with a 16-point 11 rebound game. The team would rack up 50 rebounds on the evening while shooting almost 48% from beyond the arc. The Thunderwolves were led by Cam Dyer who had a team-high 17 points.
 
GAME 2: 68-62 L
 
A slow start in the first half ultimately cost the Vikings a tough loss to the Tribunes of Monroe Community College Sunday afternoon before their trip back home.
 
Westchester struggled to put up points, shooting 27% from the floor and 33% from the free-throw line. Turnovers continued to haunt the Vikings as well with them committing 10 turnovers. SUNY WCC would look to limp into halftime hoping to turn things around.
 
The second half saw the Vikings offense heat up thanks to Wyatt Triestman, Jaiden Brown, and Yave Cruz. While turnovers were still a key mishap, SUNY Westchester would shoot 48% from the floor and 66% from the free-throw line.
 
Westchester was led by Triestman who had a team high 20-point, 10 rebound performance. Cruz would add 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Monroe would be led by Jaden Fleming who had a game-high 21 points.
 
The Vikings look to turn things around with a game at Suffolk Community College on Thursday, December 14^th for a 7pm game.
