Middletown, NY – The Men's Basketball team's season came to a difficult end on Saturday as they were eliminated from post-season contention in the NJCAA Region 15 semifinals.  The Vikings fell to the eventual Region 15 Champions, SUNY Sullivan by the score of 76-62. 

WCC played well to start, coming out with high energy and matching the Generals point for point for about 12 minutes to open the game.  Sullivan then opened up a bit of a lead to head into the locker room up 10 points at 41-31.  The deficit proved too much to overcome as the Vikings were cold to start the 2^nd period and their efforts to cut the score were not enough in the end. 

Yenfry Paulino (West Haverstraw, NY/North Rockland HS) led the Vikings with 18 points.  All-Region standouts Ed Beqiri (Yonkers, NY/Archbishop Stepinac HS) and Omar Nkonde (Harlem, NY/Thurgood Marshall) each added 16 points apiece.  Nkonde notched a double-double, adding 10 rebounds. 

The loss concludes the Vikings' season, in what was a solid campaign for first year Head Coach Andre Pennicooke.  The team will graduate 5 sophomores and looks to bolster the roster with new recruits in what looks to be a very bright future.
