Brooklyn, NY – The Vikings fell short of another comeback victory yesterday against a solid Kingsborough 12-10. The loss moves Westchester to 9-2 on the year.
The game would be a tightknit battle from the gate with the Wave (4-3) striking first scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. SUNY WCC would answer right back with two runs of their own in the top of the second and scoring an additional three runs in the top of the third to put them ahead by three. KCC would take the lead back from the Vikings putting up a five spot in the bottom of the fourth. Westchester would score five runs over the final five innings while Kingsborough would add another five of their own to secure the victory.
Out of the 12 runs allowed by the Vikings pitching staff, only seven were earned. Errors and walks plagued Westchester in key moments in the game.
Marc Stockhausen (St. Raymond's HS/Bronx, NY) helped charge the Viking offense with two doubles, two runs scored, and an RBI. Also adding two hits and an RBI continuing to swing a hot bat was Sophomore
Luisbert Frias (Port Chester HS/Port Chester, NY). Westchester batters would continuously hit the ball hard but unfortunately the ball could not find the turf.
The Vikings look to move back into the win column today (March 9, 2023) with a home game against Suffolk Community College. First pitch slated for 2:30pm at Vikings Field.
