Loch Sheldrake, NY – The Vikings took game one against Sullivan yesterday 19-4 moving their win total to 30 on the season and 5-0 in Conference play
The game would initially start off slow for SUNY WCC leading by four heading into the bottom of the sixth inning where the Generals (10-11, 4-1 MHC) would tack on another run to cut the lead to three. The Vikings would then explode in the top of the seventh with eight unanswered runs and six runs in the top of the eighth to blow the game open ultimately sealing their victory.
Westchester was firing on all cylinders to start their second Mid-Hudson Conference series collecting 12 hits on the day thanks to a three-hit performance by
Michael Ambrosecchia (Mahopac HS/Mahopac, NY) while
Gavin Carlucci (Walter Panas HS/Garrison, NY),
Luisbert Frias (Port Chester HS/Port Chester, NY),
Tommy Poggi (Briarcliff HS/Briarcliff, NY), and
Weston Baronian (Pascack Valley HS/River Vale, NJ) all collected 2 hits each. Poggi would lead the team with five RBI's on the day.
Ryan Osso (Eastchester HS/Eastchester, NY) had another great performance on the mound scattering six hits over his six innings of work with striking out eight and allowing four earned runs. Osso now moves to a team best 7-0 on the year.
The Vikings travel back up to Loch Sheldrake for game two of the series today (April 14
th) for a 3:30pm 9-inning game.
