Danbury, CT – The Vikings came away victorious Tuesday afternoon with a 15-4 win over Western Connecticut State University's JV team. Westchester now moves to 35-7 on the year.
It was a balanced offensive attack for SUNY WCC scoring in six straight innings to take a commanding 12-2 lead. Starting pitcher
Alex Korn (Pleasantville HS/Pleasantville, NY) would earn his third victory of the year throwing two-innings and striking out two while only giving up a hit. The staff,
Thomas Mark (Brewster HS/Patterson, NY),
John Peteani (Saunders HS/Yonkers, NY),
Javier Santiago (Pawling HS/Pawling, NY),
Tommy Poggi (Briarcliff HS/Briarcliff, NY), and
Xavier Buttacavoli (Passaic County Technical Institute/Hawthorne, NJ), as well as Korn, would strike out 11 Wolves batters while only allowing four earned runs on the day.
As for the Viking offense, Poggi would lead the team with three hits, and RBI and two runs scored on the day. Following Tommy with two-hits each was
Marc Stockhausen (St. Raymond's HS/Bronx, NY) and
Weston Baronian (Pascack Valley HS/River Vale, NJ).
Michael Ambrosecchia (Mahopac HS/Mahopac, NY) would lead the team with 3 RBIs thanks to a bases clearing double. Westchester would hit .305 on the day, sending 18 different batters to the plate.
SUNY WCC's next game will take place today (April 27
th) when the Vikings host SUNY Orange for game 1 of their final Mid-Hudson Conference Series. First pitch slated for 4pm at Vikings Field.
