Staatsburg, NY – The Vikings opened up Regional/Mid-Hudson Conference play yesterday with an 11-1 win over Dutchess Community College. Westchester is now 25-3 (1-0 XV) on the year.
On the cloudy day at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School the Falcons would strike first on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the second inning off starting pitcher
Gavin Carlucci (Walter Panas HS/Garrison, NY). That would be the last run he would allow in his complete game win. The Vikings would answer back in the top of the third with a run of their own to tie the game up where it would remain tied until the top of the fifth inning.
Up until the fifth, Westchester's offense struggled to get the timely hit they're use to getting inning after inning.
Marc Stockhausen (St. Raymonds HS/Bronx, NY) changed that with a hard-hit double down the left field line plating two runs to put the Vikings ahead 3-1. Westchester would put up 10 runs in the inning to break open the game against the Falcons.
Carlucci, would pick up his second win of the year scattering five hits and fanning five. He would also go three for four at the plate adding two runs and two RBIs. Stockhausen would add two hits of his own while adding three RBIs along with
Ryan Osso (Eastchester HS/Eastchester, NY) who also contributed with three RBIs.
Westchester looks to game two of the series today as they travel back up to Dutchess County to take on the Falcons at Bard College in Annandale, NY. First pitch is slated for 4pm.
