Middletown, NY – Because of Mother Nature's plan to wreak havoc on the Northeast for the next several days, the Vikings would take on the Colts in a rare Friday doubleheader. In two games, the Vikings would score 30 runs, pound out 34 hits, and only give up one earned run.
GAME 1: 13-0 W
It was just another game for starting pitcher
Thomas Browne (Pleasantville HS/Pleasantville, NY). In his six innings of work, he would only allow four hits while striking out seven Colt batters to earn his ninth victory of the year. This gave plenty of opportunity for the Viking offense to get going early.
Gavin Carlucci (Walter Panas HS/Garrison, NY) would go three for four with three runs scored. Following Gavin with a game high three-hits was
Tommy Poggi (Briarcliff HS/Briarcliff, NY).
Marc Stockhausen (St. Raymond's HS/Bronx, NY) had a game-high four RBI's in his two-hit performance. The highlight of the game would be
Weston Baronian (Pascack Valley HS/River Vale, NJ) getting his 100
th career hit. All Westchester batters reached base that came to the plate.
GAME 2: 17-1 W
Pushing to get the second game in because of pending rain, the Vikings broke open the game early scoring 11 runs in the first three innings. That would be more than enough support for starting pitcher
Jackson Kossow (Somers HS/Somers, NY) who earned his sixth win of the year. Kossow, wouldn't allow a base runner until a hit batter in the fifth inning. Over his five innings, he struck out six, gave up one hit and one earned run. Stockhausen and Carlucci would lead the charge for the offense yet again. Carlucci would go three for three with two doubles and three RBI's while Stock would add 3 RBI's of his own going two for four with a double.
Michael Manganiello (Archbishop Stepinac HS/Yonkers, NY) would continue his hot hitting going two for four with two runs scored and an RBI.
The Vikings seem to have locked in the one-seed for the upcoming Region 15 playoffs, however, still have one Mid-Hudson Conference game to be made up against SUNY Orange. That game is scheduled to played tomorrow, May 2
nd, at 4pm here at Vikings Field. Forecasted rain for the upcoming week may forego any games schedule for the week. Any updates will be posting on our social media pages!
