Queens, NY – The Vikings fell to regional foe Queensborough Community College Tuesday afternoon 3-2. Westchester now falls to 1-1 on the season.
It started off interesting for SUNY Westchester. Within the first minute of the game, the Vikings gave up a very early goal to the Tigers. Westchester would battle their way back scoring in the 30
th minute to tie the game at one thanks to
Lorenzo Santucci who was assisted by
Juan Espinosa. The Vikings would then take an early lead heading into the halftime with a goal by Hendell Dos Santos in the 34
th minute assisted by
Alabdiel Hernandez.
Heading into the second half the Vikings offense turned cold on the humid day getting shut out. Meanwhile Queensborough would make a push to even up the game. In the 46
th minute a penalty kick would be awarded to the Tigers and the score would end up being tied at two. 30 minutes would roll by with both teams vying for the equalizing goal. Low and behold, in the 76
th minute, Queensborough would break the tie and go up 3-2. Time would be against the Vikings who ultimately would take their first loss of the early season.
Nicholas Nunez would save six in the loss.
SUNY Westchester looks to redeem themselves tomorrow, September 14
th, as they welcome Conference /Regional foe SUNY Dutchess to Barrett Field. The home match will begin at 4pm.
