Valhalla, NY – Women's Volleyball swept the Rockland Hawks last night 3-0 to earn their first victory of the season.
Coming off their upsetting 5-set loss to SUNY Orange a week ago, the Vikings were eager to build off of their mistakes and looked to pounce at another opportunity to get their elusive first win of the season. Westchester would take game one by the score of 25-19. Game two would also roll the Vikings way. SUNY WCC would power though Rockland 25-13 behind a seven point service push by
Atalia Graham (Academy of American Studies HS/Riverdale, NY) and were looking for the sweep heading into game number three.
The final set would see a back and forth battle between the two teams before
Julia Pawlowicz (Ursuline HS/Hawthorne, NY) and
Gabriella Cresti Caetano (Yonkers HS/Yonkers, NY) sealed the deal locking in the win 25-19.
The win is the first for Head Coach Phil Toscano for the program and look to continue to build off of the success.
The Vikings next game will be next Tuesday, September 19
th at 7pm when they travel up to Middletown, NY to take on the Colts of SUNY Orange.
